Brielle Closure Effective March 17th, 2020

Brielle Closures

Out of an abundance of caution and to help curtail community spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVI D-19), Borough of Brielle will be modifying our services to the community as follows:

The Borough's Police Department, Fire Department and First Aid Squad will continue to operate as close to normal as this situation permits.

Police Department — Non-emergency Operations

Police Department operations will continue to provide emergency and non-emergency services. The Police Department administration window will be closed to public access at this time. Reports can be requested by calling 732-528-5050

***As a reminder, dial 911 for all emergency requests for Police, Fire and First Aid services.

Municipal Administrative Offices

Public access to all municipal offices and the Department of Public Works office will be suspended until further notice.

Municipal staff will still be available to assist residents via telephone and email during our regular business hours of Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm, however no in-person visitation will be permitted until further notice. Please call 732-528-6600 and follow the prompts to reach the desired department.

All residents and property owners are encouraged to utilize our online payment options for tax payments, water/sewer payments and the online registration platform for recreation programs.

A drop-box for payments is located on the parking lot entrance side of the building.

Building Department & Fire Prevention Bureau

The Borough of Brielle is a part of the Regional Construction Department in Spring Lake. Please see their schedule below:

Spring Lake Borough Hall will be closed to the public starting on Monday, 3/23 for up to 30 days.  There will be a drop slot in the foyer of Borough Hall, by the front door, that will be available weekdays between 8 - 4 and will be checked regularly. The office can access email & permit programs so there should be no delay in processing.  There will be permit forms available in the foyer for pick up, but they can also be accessed at the state website through the following link:

https://www.state.nj.us/dca/divisions/codes/resources/constructionpermit...

Inspections will be done at the usual times.  We will request that inspections for minor work be put off until a later date.  General information about construction work and the permit process will be available at the Spring Lake website: springlakeboro.org under "departments" & "construction".

We are required to respond to a permit application within 20 days of receipt and this should not alter that stipulation.

Health Officials remind you to:

Clean your hands often

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Stay home if you're sick

Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care.

Cover coughs and sneezes

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.

Throw used tissues in the trash.

Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Wear a facemask if you are sick

If you are sick: You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider's office. If you are not able to wear a facemask (for example, because it causes trouble breathing), then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who are caring for you should wear a facemask if they enter your room. If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers.

Clean and Disinfect

Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

As additional information is learned, we will update our website accordingly. Thank you in advance for your assistance
