About Brielle EMS

Brielle EMS, Inc. (formerly known as The Brielle First Aid Squad) is a private independent corporation founded in 1962 by a group of dedicated volunteers wanting to provide timely emergency medical care to the residents and visitors of the Borough of Brielle.

The stated mission of Brielle EMS is:

The purpose of this organization shall be to render emergency medical services to the public that will lessen suffering and help in preserving life; to keep Squad members well trained in the principals of emergency medicine as outlined by the NJ Department of Health EMT standard of care and the American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification.

Today's active members continue this tradition. We are a group of 25 dedicated volunteers divided into three groups:

  • Certified EMT - Completing the 180 hour NJ Dept. of Health mandatory Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic) training and AHA CPR training.
  • Certified Driver - Completing 12 hour CEVO Defensive Driving class and AHA CPR Training.
  • Associate Member - Non-medical volunteers committed to assisting the Squad with fundraising and other non emergency related functions.

Each year our Squad responds to approximately 400 medical emergencies and spends countless hours training, completing state mandated "Continuing Education Units". In 2016 Brielle EMS volunteers expended more than 5,000 man hours ensuring our residents received the best Emergency Medical Care available.
